What clipBoar stores
Your clipboard slots, history, snippets, and settings are saved locally on your Mac, under ~/Library/Application Support/clipBoar/. They never leave your machine, and we never see them.
Network use
clipBoar makes exactly two kinds of network connections, and your clipboard contents are never part of either:
- Update checks — “Check for Updates” fetches the update feed from clipboar.com to see whether a newer version exists.
- License activation & re-validation — see “Purchases & licensing” below.
That's it. clipBoar has no telemetry, no analytics, and no crash reporting.
Personal data & analytics
We do not collect, transmit, profile, or sell any personal data. There are no cookies or trackers in the app.
Purchases & licensing
If you buy a license, the purchase is handled by our payment provider (the Merchant of Record), who processes your payment and email to deliver your license key and receipt. Please see their privacy policy for how they handle checkout data.
Activating sends the payment provider two things: your license key and a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware identifier (the raw identifier never leaves your device). That ties the license to your Mac — nothing about you or your clipboard is included. Afterwards the license works offline, with an occasional background re-check of the same two values.
