Terms of use

Last updated: June 2026
The short version: try clipBoar free for seven days. If you buy it, the license is yours — one Mac at a time, moveable whenever you like, with updates included. Purchases are processed by Polar, who handle payment and refunds. Be reasonable, and we'll do the same.

The app and these terms

clipBoar is a clipboard manager for macOS, made by clipBoar (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Trial

clipBoar is fully functional for seven days from first launch, free — no card, no account. After the trial ends, the app locks until a license is entered. Your data (slots, history, snippets, settings) stays on your Mac either way and unlocks intact.

Purchases

Licenses are sold through Polar, our Merchant of Record. Polar processes your payment, handles applicable taxes, delivers your license key by email, and processes refunds under its own checkout terms. If something went wrong with a purchase, email hello@clipboar.com and we'll sort it out with you.

Your license

A clipBoar license grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app, for any purpose including work:

A refunded or charged-back purchase revokes its license. We may terminate a license that violates these terms.

Activation and network use

Activating a license makes a single online call to Polar with your key and an anonymous one-way hash of your Mac's hardware identifier. Afterwards the app works offline, with an occasional background re-check. Details — and everything else about your data — are in our privacy policy. Your clipboard never leaves your Mac.

No warranty

clipBoar is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't promise it is error-free or fits your specific needs.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost data or lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

If these terms change, we'll update this page and its date. Material changes will be noted on the site. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing terms for purchases

The purchase itself — payment, taxes, billing disputes, and refunds — is governed by Polar's checkout buyer terms, which you accept at checkout. Mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence applies where it cannot be waived.
